St Richard’s Staff Member Honoured with Royal Invitation to Buckingham Palace

16th May 2025

Emily Griffin, the Safeguarding lead at St Richard’s VC Academy in Hull, received a once-in-a-lifetime honour in May: an invitation to the King's Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.

Hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla, the prestigious event, held in May, celebrated “community champions” from across the UK who have made outstanding contributions to their local areas.

Ms Griffin was nominated by the Trust in recognition of her unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of the children and families she serves. Her dedication has made a lasting impact on the school community, a sentiment echoed by Rachel McEvoy, CEO of St 鶹Ƶ’s Roman Catholic Academy Trust.

“Emily goes above and beyond every day to ensure the safety, wellbeing and future of those she serves in Catholic Education,” said Mrs McEvoy. “She embodies the Trust’s mission and what it means to be a true champion for children and families.”

Ms Griffin described the garden party as a “fabulous experience,” full of music, elegance, and unforgettable memories. She attended the event with her mother, both dressed smartly for the occasion, proudly representing their school and community. “To be a part of the pomp and ceremony will be a memory that lasts forever,” she said.
The entire Trust and St Richard’s community is proud of Emily’s well-deserved recognition and grateful for her continued service and care.
